Original Kayo Gallery exhibition space

Our Mission

Salt Lake City's Kayo Gallery shows cutting edge, progressive art by local, national and international artists. We offer artists total control over their exhibit, allowing them to fully realize their unique perspectives.

The Beginning

Founded in 2005 by artist Kenny Riches, Kayo Gallery was created to bring a progressive, inspiring, challenging and exciting art to an urban exhibit space in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

Big Changes

Shortly after Riches moved the gallery from its original location (now Nobrow Coffee & Tea) to its new digs a block and a half up the road, he got the notion to travel internationally and pursue his own artwork. In 2008, artist Shilo Jackson took charge and immediately started booking artists from across the country to pair with and play off locals of the same caliber.

Partners

A few months after the takeover, Jackson brought in artist Davina Pallone as partner. Together, Jackson and Pallone made the gallery a must-visit destination for both local and national contemporary artwork.

The Present Moment

When Pallone left the gallery in early 2010 to move to the US Virgin Islands, Jackson resumed sole control of the gallery. She converted Kayo to an L3C — low-profit limited liability business — and continues to promote and encourage socially responsible activities and to present art by underrepresented individuals.
