Joe McVetty is an emerging East Coast artist with works recently shown in the Maine Biennial and the Boston Center for the Arts. Heís proven to be an artist with a unique understanding of figurative painting and complex narratives. The works for the Kayo show are based on an ongoing autobiographical allegory, which have echoes of Schiele and Bataille. Cein Watson is a local artist whose work has its foundations in academia. The paintings are diagrams mapping out basic metaphysical problems. The works for To Leave and Never Return are an embodiment of the last few years. These pieces will be accompanied by a series of textbooks that help guide the viewer in deconstructing the sign.
